How can I adjust my sprinkler head?
Rainbird Pop-up rotors and pop up sprays are adjusted with a tool that is provided to the owner after installation.

Will I have difficulty operating an irrigation system?
Spinniken Lawn & Irrigation will explain to you how your sprinkler system works and how the watering times have been set. After everything is set up the system will do all of the work for you, and you do not need to think about it.

What time of day should I water?
In Northern Michigan it is best to start your watering cycle just in time to be compeleted around sunrise, watering in the middle of the day is less effecient, and watering in the middle of the night can cause mold and fungus issues.

Can I use the lake as a water source?
Yes, Leelanau County has a lot of lake frontage and it is a good idea to take advantage of the water. In this situation a lake pump is installed near the waters edge.

What is Drip Irrigation?
Spinniken Lawn & Irrigation uses drip irrigation in landscapes, potted plants, and agricultural applications such as vineyards and apple orchards. A drip system consists of a smaller pipe with emitters that can in effect drip the water exactly where it needs to go, and are much more effecient.

What is a Backflow Device?
A backflow device prevents your irrigation water from flowing backwards into your homes water supply. Backflow devices are required by code in Leelanau county and Traverse City if using a potable water supply. Our master plumber will install this device.

What happens when it rains?
We encourage owners have us install a rain sensor with new irrigation systems. Rain sensors detect rain, and then turn your sprinklers off until things dry up. If you do not have a rain sensor simply turn off your controller and then turn it back on when the lawn has started to dry up.
